* Who's The Geek? *

Now, I've taken pictures of my studio before, in it's various stages from one place to another. But just tonight I was looking in my room and I wondered, "Renaissance Man", or, "GEEK!".

On numerous occasions I have been referred to as a "Renaissance Man", (otherwise known as a "Homo Universalis", or "Polymath"). And after looking up the definition of that term, I feel honored in the sense that it refers to an individual that excels in multiple fields. And then in finding numerous references to individuals like Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Michelangelo, and various other famous historians, I feel I would be in amazing company. After all, I do have a strong fascination and passion for various different fields. Everything from photography, to video, to music, dance, art, symphony, theater, astronomy, science, and technology.
But do I "excel" at any of these? I don't think so. It's more like I equally stink at every one of them.
Well, and I also feel that this may be a flexible or loosely defined term, and that I may actually just be attention deficit, or just a "GEEK", by definition.

So, in order to evaluate this particular picture, and an attempt at discovering who I am, let's just examine 10 components in the direct view of this particular image, (Ignoring all of the other equipment arranged throughout the studio.)

1. Two musical keyboards: I actually have four keyboards in the studio, for various different uses.
2. Computers: The main computer actually has two monitors connected to it, then my laptop is there on the left, for other uses.
(Numerous USB devices are connected through several USB hubs scattered around the room.)
3. Recording equipment: In this view you see the microphone, headphones, a corner of the sound mixer (bottom right) And there is actually the corner of my MIDI interface between two displays there.
4. Tools: Two screwdrivers, computer RAM, isopropyl alcohol. Yeah, I have to fix my own stuff. (alcohol is a good contact cleaner.)
5. Camera: Wow! There's my old Sony Mavica camera on top of the display.
6. Web Cam?: It's in there, and yeah, I actually do use it on occasions. It comes in handy since I have friends in distant countries.
7. TV/VCR: Yeah, I like a little distraction from time to time.
8. Spare media: There's a stack of Recordable CD's and DVD's under the desk there.
9. Pen for my graphics tablet: These things are really useful for editing various graphic images.
10. Wires, wires, wires: Yes, there are actually thousands of feet of various wires scattered throughout the room.

So you be the judge: "Renaissance Man", or, "GEEK!"?

Although I would love to be in the company of such geniuses, I myself am more inclined to think,
 "GEEK!"
