I did manage to get quite a few shots of
the fireworks display on the 4th. But unfortunately I did not have my tripod
with me, and most of them came out quite wiggly, like this one.
Although I did kind of like this one since it looks like some kind of weird
electrical discharge.
Is it just because I'm
getting old and cannot hold a camera steady enough for shots like these? Or is
it the fact that, for these nights shots, and the shutter is open for several
seconds, that the camera has to be totally solid? Well, maybe both.
So I guess, as soon as that big fat check comes in from some mysterious unknown
place, I'll knuckle down and purchase one of those fancy Image Stabilization
lenses.
Canon has developed and marketed a line
of camera lenses that can actually alleviate the camera shake, and give you a
solid clear photo.
What horrified me was the price. But what fascinated me most is how they
accomplished this.
Basically, the lens, itself, contains tiny sensors that can detect any movement.
This information is sent to a microprocessor where it is evaluated and
calculated with immediate timing and precision and then sends signals to tiny
servos that actually and physically shift the lens internally, to compensate for
the movement.
You can actually read more on Canon's web site.
Now, who's ready to donate a big fat check so I can buy an expensive new lens? hee hee
