As you look closer at this mountain lion, don't be alarmed by the fact that it has numerous arrows stuck in the side. It is obviously not a real animal.
During a large archery event at the Sunrise Ski Resort, they place various targets throughout the woods up and down the hill. These dummies are then used for target practice as would-be hunters stroll around the hill in search of their desired bounties.
Of course they don't get to keep these
bounties. But my friend, Rob, told me some interesting information. He informed
me that they actually have to go around and cover up the targets at the end of
each day of the event, because the bears will often attack and destroy the
targets at night.
Apparently they don't just hunt by smell. Which is something to take into
consideration if you are running around out in the woods at night. Don't walk on
all fours, and definitely try not to look like a plastic game animal.
