* Polarizing Filter *

Remember my posting a few days ago, about rainbows? Well, here's a good example of what a polarizing filter can do. This really bright fraction of a rainbow came out after a good storm so I quickly grabbed my camera to capture it.
While this image was with the filter turned one way, the second (hold pointer over image) was with it turned the other way. Without the filter the image initially came out somewhere in between the two, leaving the rainbow quite faint. The camera's factory lens and built in polarization had actually diffused the reflectivity of the rainbow and left me with less than what I was seeing with my own eyes.
Although the filter does diminish a little bit of the actual light, the camera's shutter speed and aperture makes up for the difference, and allows me to capture what my eyes were actually seeing. And it really was that bright.
