Of course the monsoon season has been
here in full force, and the thunderstorms are pouring rain down on the desert.
Plants and weeds are sprouting up all over and I can't seem to keep up with them
all. But of course they will almost all dry up and die anyway after the rains
are gone.
The desert toads have been out at nights having their little soirees around the
pool area, and the ground squirrels are starting to look more like drowned
squirrels.
The rivers and washes are all running full of what doesn't really look like
water, but more like liquid dirt.
But with the monsoon season brings some incredible thunderstorms of a caliber that definitely beats any fireworks display. Unfortunately, this year, I still haven't gotten any shots of the lightning. But it's not over yet, and I'm sure I will still have plenty of chances to stand out in the clearings and pretend like I'm a lightning rod.
